Meeting Minutes by Roy Fisher, January 2013

Richmond BMW Riders Meeting Minutes – 1/20/2013 The meeting was called to order by outgoing president Dave Mitchell at 9:28am. Attendance was about 30 people, including one guest, David Shulter. Apologies if I got the name incorrect. It was announced that Rusty Gross still has member nametags that have not been picked up. Please contact Rusty if you were eligible to receive a nametag and have not taken possession of it. Soon to be former president Dave announced the slate of new club officers. Steve Johnson for president, Rick Price for vice-president, Richard Hinman returning for another term as treasurer, Roy Fisher for secretary, Mike Steven member at large, and David Mitchell as past president. A voice vote confirmed the 2013 officers with only incoming president Steve Johnson voting no. Sorry Steve, you made the mistake of volunteering! Thank you to the outgoing officers, and thanks Richard for staying on as treasurer. Treasurer’s report from Richard Hinman included he needs MOA member and RA member numbers to renew our charters, we have no taxes due, and we are financially stable. New president Steve took over the meeting from very happy looking Dave. Steve’s goals for the upcoming year are to keep it fun and keep it simple. He is going to concentrate on consolidating club communications to the new web site (Thanks Rick Higgins) and the mylist e-mail list. Steve would like everyone to give the new website a try, and use it for the event calendar, submitting ride reports, and any other articles of interest to club members. But, we also need to keep a way of communicating with our members that do not use the internet. Rusty brought up the idea of having a listing of club members and their cell phone numbers. This would be a hard copy list riders could carry in their tank bag in case of emergency. Today’s ride is to be led by Rick Price. Since only a few members are participating, he will hold a rider’s meeting in the parking lot where he will give out the ride details. Susi Fisher announced this year’s Virginia Ride For Kids will be on Sunday June 2. Changes for the ride this year include an increase in the minimum donation to join the ride, and an increase in the minimum donation to receive a ride t-shirt. January’s club dinner will be on January 22 at Marty’s Grill in the Atlee area of Mechanicsville. It was decided that the club needs a social director to coordinate club dinners, weekends, etc. Since Dave Mitchell already missed being president so much, he volunteered. The general membership meeting was adjourned at 9:51am. After the general membership meeting, the annual director’s meeting was held.
